If the angular scale is not engraved into the wheel flange, a separate scale ring may be attached.Scale rings in many sizes are available from Elaso or are made to order.

Mounting the optical sensor

The advantage of the optical speed sensor is its flexibility and it is usable on almost any machine.
Often it is not possible to find space to mount it permanently. Please note that the background color under the reflecting label has to be as black as possible. If the background color is not black a permanent marker may be used to color it black. The distance between the reflecting label and the sensor should be between 30 and 50mm. Adjust the sensor in such a way that the rpm display on the ebm100 is stable. This is important to get an accurate balancing result.

Mounting of the rpm sensor (hall sensor)

The hall sensor is especially beneficial for permanent installations and should be favored over the optical sensor because of the more stable behavior. It would be beneficial to install this sensor on all machines where the ebm100 is to be used. This allows for a rapid deployment of the ebm100. Often the rpm sensor might be mounted at the spindle motor (ventilator grid) or at the drive flange as shown on the above picture.

Attaching the vibration transducer with magnetic base to the spindle housing of the grinding machine.

The vibration transducer has a strong magnetic base allowing it to be attached to the spindle housing.

The transducer should be mounted as close as possible to the grinding wheel pointing towards the work piece as shown above on a cylindrical grinding machine. Please note that the vibration transducer is a highly sensitive and precise sensor and should be therefore attached with good judgment. Due to the strong magnet it does not make this easy. Do not let it “click” onto the surface rather try to slide it into position. Do not move this sensor unless absolutely necessary.
